Don't wear your dessy group sandals hiking!

While I am a huge fan of the wedding-tailored flip flops that The Dessy Group makes, I have to break some sad news to all of you: They aren't going to stay on your feet if you decided to cross a rushing creek (that might as well be called a river) during a severe thunderstorm.

It's true. Last weekend, I went for a bit of a camping adventure in the forests of New Jersey. (I know! I had no idea there were forests in New Jersey until then, either!). Part of our little adventure lead us through a 5 mile hike in the woods of Pennsylvania toward a 60 foot waterfall. We found the waterfall and had a great time swimming and cliff diving. Everything was dandy...even the fact that we'd all worn flip flops on a rather long and physically straining hike. Everything was dandy until a severe thunderstorm hit, that is. The problem was that we had had to cross a creek that was a few feet deep in order to get to the waterfall. By the time we got back to the crossing spot on the way out, in the pouring rain, it was rushing and above my waist. (And I'm 5'7, so you do the math).

Sadly, my awesome sandals rushed off of my feet and down the creek. I hiked back out 5 miles without any shoes at all.

Note to readers: The Dessy Group sandals are absolutely darling-but not meant for hiking.
