The Friday Bridesmaid Book
They say the bridesmaid relationship is for life…or at least that’s how they justify buying those bridesmaid dresses! But in this Friday’s Bridesmaid Book “Bridesmaids Revisited: An Ellie Haskell Mystery” by veteran mystery writer Dorothy Cannell, the bridesmaid’s bond goes beyond the grave. The story starts when British interior decorator and sometimes-sleuth Ellie Haskell is contacted by the bridesmaids of her late grandmother. They are convinced Ellie’s grandmother Sophie is trying to contact them-despite the fact that she’s dead. From secret diaries, long lost twins, and houses that go creak in the night, this is one mystery you don’t want to miss. Pick this one up for freaky bridesmaid’ gifts sure to give your girls a thrill!

Duplicate Registry Presents make Great Recycled Bridesmaid’ Gifts
While the old china and crystal registries may seem outdated, the truth is they are still popular. As couples are getting married at a later age, most already have the essentials needed to stock a kitchen. Thus, most registries consist of the more elaborate stuff a couple couldn’t afford on their own, like china serving sets and crystal platters. Other modern registry choices included barbeque accessories, digital cameras, or luggage. Travel registries, where people can contribute to honeymoons are also popular. Genius idea: If you get duplicate gifts off your registry, don’t return them. Distribute them to your attendants for instant bridesmaid gifts. Who knows, this may be your girls’ only chance only shot at a fancy candelabra or expensive food processor...

A Picture Makes for Worthy Bridesmaid Gifts
For those who don't savor the idea of being photographed in the post-ceremony flurry, there's a new trend in town: pre-wedding photography. Though this fad does override the whole "bad luck to see the bride before the wedding" idea, pre-wedding photography does offer some definite perks. A chance to photograph non-beer spattered bridesmaid dresses. A less fidgety flower girl. And most importantly...a personal moment with your groom. Many brides have complained that one of the biggest drawbacks of their weddings was barely getting a chance to talk to the groom. A pre-wedding photo shoot allows for a romantic personal moment in a chapel, a garden, or by the seaside. A chance to kiss, pray and pose together may be just the thing you need to brace yourself for the big ceremony. Whether you choose to have your photo shoot before or after, be sure to splurge on a nice photo album to keep your pictures pristine. Individual framed photos of your attendants also make great bridesmaid gifts.

2) Pre-shop for bridesmaids’ dresses before you present styles to your attendants. An online web browser like www.dessy.com makes this step a cinch!
3) Select five styles and colors of bridesmaids’ dresses and test them on one of your attendants.
4) Narrow it down to one style and two color options of bridesmaids’ dresses.
Why trust Diamond’s advice? The Dessy Group just celebrated their 70th year in the bridesmaids’ dresses industry. Happy Anniversary!

Post-Nuptial Depression
Last year’s nuptial buzz word was “bridezilla.” This year, the catchphrase is “post-nuptial depression.” Basically, post-nuptial depression is the natural result when, after the wedding, one must relinquish bridezilla rights and go back to acting like an ordinary member of society. Sad, we know. Soo...we have some suggestions to cheer up these recovering brides.
1) You can now have fun returning all the hideous wedding gifts from the groom’s side and buy things you actually like (note: bridesmaids, this goes for your bridesmaids’ gifts too).
2) You can stop worrying about fitting into that strapless wedding gown and go back to stuffing your face (grooms love this!)

Bachelorette Tank Tops make Hot Bridesmaids' Gifts
Ladies, ladies, ladies. As of late, we at bridesmaid.com have been hearing about a disturbing syndrome called Bachelor Party Envy. Because of the increasing lameness of bachelorette parties (painting picture frames, passing the hummus) and the rising awesomeness of bachelor parties (paintball, Oktoberfest), many brides are expressing jealousy over their spouse's superior send-offs. Don't worry girls, we've got just the thing to spice up your soiree: bachelorette party couture wear. Not only do these sexy tanks and tees make sizzling bridesmaids' gifts, these tops immediately kick the night off with a festive tone, getting partiers in the mood quicker than you can say "tequila shooters for ten." Yee-haw!

Friday Bridesmaids' Book: The Anti-Bride Guide
Shelling out $27,000 on your wedding? You’d rather go to Greece. Throwing every waking minute of your life into wedding planning? You’d rather read, paint, swim, ski or take a nap. The Most Important Day of Your Life? Good grief, you hope not!
If these are your sentiments, we have got the bridal guide for you! Last week we honored traditional tomes; this week it’s all about alternative bridal guides. The Anti-Bride Guide: Tying the Knot Outside the Box is just that. This book caters to quickie weddings, alternative weddings, the you- thought-you-loved-your-fiance-but-you-actually-love-his-roomate weddings…you name it. The Anti-Bride guide is basically a book for any of the vast amount of brides that didn’t get engaged to the male model next door or start planning their wedding in the womb (read: real life brides). From style quizzes to a wedding jargon decoder and splashy pictures of non-traditional wedding dresses, this unorthodox book lives up to its funky cover. The perfect gift for a stressed-out bride, it might even give you the leverage you need to re-negotiate those disco-era bridesmaids’ dresses. Yeah baby!

The Friday Bridesmaids' Book: Catch of the Day
Think of it as “Wedding Crashers” for bridesmaids. While other bridal books caution and lecture, Catch of the Day sweetly woos with tales of weddings’ one silver lining: the chance to catch a man. While we can’t guarantee this four-story anthology will come true for you, it should at least keep you from throwing yourself four stories out the too-tiny bridesmaids’ dress boutique window.
In fact, this bridal pick has a documented and peculiar effect of transforming thoughts of girdles and grumpiness to dreams of garters and dashing groomsmen. After reading “Catch of the Day” your wedding fantasies will consist only of chic form-fitting bridesmaids’ dresses and cocktail mixers for bridesmaids’ gifts. Nice catch!

No More Alarm Clocks for Bridesmaids' Gifts
Goodbye Britney, Hello Cinderella! As of August 30, The Wall Street Journal reports that the famous 24-hour Vegas wedding chapels will now be observing a strict midnight curfew. While the local chapel personnel are shedding a few tears, the real victims of this tragedy are movie stars and military workers (the primary beneficiaries of the wee-hour wedding). And let’s not forget all those crestfallen attendants hoping to swap bridesmaids’ dresses for a comfy pair of pj’s! As we mourn the loss of misconceived impromptu weddings ( a la Miss Spears) the Marriage Bureau laughs all the way to bank. Their estimated annual savings? $200,000. We believe in Vegas that’s what’s known as “money, baby!” On that note, why not just marry at home and use your saved Vegas money on a few good bridesmaids’ gifts?

Bridesmaids’ Gifts: Something Old, Something New
You’re a bride who wants the best of the best. If you need a latte, you go to Starbucks. For car insurance, no one else but that cuddly green gecko will do. And for wedding advice, there’s only one name: Emily Post.
Though this venerable etiquette expert has passed away, her work lives on through her oh-so-proper offspring. In fact, the updated fifth edition of Emily Post’s Wedding Etiquette is written by none other than Emily’s granddaughter, the undoubtedly decorous Peggy.
Within these hallowed pages you’ll find wedding advice that transcends decades (Emily’s original was written in 1922) along with Peggy’s thoroughly modern updates. Only a Post could create a flow chart of wedding party member’ responsibilities, sidebars of sticky questions, and priceless advice on same sex weddings, “encore” brides, bridesmaids’ dresses, and online wedding planning. All information is dispersed with signature Post style and insight, making this book the perfect combo of something old and something new. Sneaky tip: give these books as bridesmaids’ gifts for definitive resolution to bridesmaids’ dress debates. Who could argue with a Post?
