Best Destination Wedding Bridesmaids’ Gifts

So your bridesmaids have agreed to fly out and attend you at your destination wedding. Okay, convincing them to lug their bridesmaids’ dresses to Tahiti wasn’t the hardest sell in the world, but certainly your girls deserve something for standing by your side on the other half of the world. But what bridesmaids’ gift best suits a destination wedding? Needless to say it can’t be too big or bulky. The best destination bridesmaids’ gifts are delicate and easily packed, and reflect just the right touch of tropical flavor. For an authentic touch, why not choose gorgeous freshwater pearls sets for bridesmaids’ gifts? They’ll look great in pictures and are versatile enough to complement any bridesmaids’ dresses. If your girls aren’t the jewelry type, there are always cute flip-flops.

Bridesmaids’ Dresses Cost A Pretty Penny

According to some new disturbing statistics released by Conde Nast, the average wedding has five bridesmaids, and the average cost of a bridesmaid dress is $138. Say it with us: Holy Moly, that’s a lot of money. The silver lining? The loopholes in this statement just may acquit your from attendant duty. For example, if you’re the sixth attendant, you could tactfully wrangle out of buying that bridesmaid’s dress by informing your bride she has technically exceeded her bridesmaids’ quota. Or, point to the new statistic which states that 30% of couples pay for their own bridal costs. Tell her you don’t want her spending precious money on bridesmaids’ gifts for you, and that you’ll gladly sacrifice bridesmaid duty to save her costs. And if these attempts don’t work, beg for Dessy dresses, so you’ll at least look hot walking down the aisle in your hard-earned bridesmaid dress.

Destination Wedding Dress Care

With destination weddings catching on like tulle on rhinestones, there is one paramount question on every bride’s mind: How do I safely transport my destination wedding dress? Well, here are a few suggestions from a recent Washington Post Article: use tissue and dry cleaner bags to stuff the dress so that it maintains its shape, put it in a garment bag, or if you don’t have a bag, make one from fitted sheets and safety pins. You could also FedEx your destination wedding dress in advance, but do not under any circumstances check it, the article warns. And remember Cinderella ball gowns riding in coach only works in fairytales. In real life, the plane is no place for a poofy dress, so why not snatch up one of these sleek and gorgeous gowns from Sandals for easy storage? These care instructions can be used on bridesmaids’ dresses and flower girls’ dresses as well…..

Something Blue Bridesmaids

For a creative “something blue," why not give your bridesmaids festive “something blue” wedding thongs as bridesmaids' gifts? While you’re at it, invest in a pair for yourself, then take an unforgettable picture flashing the camera in your fancy bridesmaid dresses and funky thongs (pre-ceremony, of course). The bachelorette party is the perfect time to dole out this mischevious gift and inform your bridesmaids of the plan. These vixenous “something blue” temporary tattoos are also amusing options, perhaps dispersed as wedding favors with prizes for most creative guest placement? Last but not least, if you’re the more the traditional type, there’s always a blue handkerchief.

Champagne Wishes and Bridesmaids Dresses

For an innovative centerpiece idea, why not consider different champagne flutes instead of the traditional vases, bells, or fishbowls? Start by choosing varying styles, like starlight, frosted, and Venetian. Then fill with festive confetti, almonds, flower petals, or fake snow. Surround the base with candles for a super-unique look! The champagne flutes could also double as wedding favors at the end of the night, or for bridesmaid pre-funking before the wedding. Just make sure not to spill any champagne on your bridesmaids’ dresses, or the jig will be up!

It’s a nice day for a winter wedding

For every spring and summer wedding, there are disgruntled guests wishing they could be out on a boat, manning a BBQ, or basically anywhere but sitting in uncomfortable chairs at a hot season wedding. Bridesmaids feel this pain worse than any, being forced to endure hot itchy bridesmaids’ dresses in the boiling sun while the minister drones on and on. To save money on wedding flowers and antiperspirant, why not convince your bride to have a winter wedding? Think bubbles, cocoa wedding favors, frosted champagne flutes, and best of all, you and your girls without makeup sweating onto your bridesmaids’ dresses.

If that doesn’t work, beg for a destination wedding. At least then you'll have a better chance at that BBQ!

Worse than a Bridesmaid Dress?

Before you get too sulky about donning your seven-layered bridesmaid dress that makes you look like burrito dip, see a film that might have you cherishing every last scrap of satin and chiffon. The UK’s “Confetti” a wedding spoof documentary featuring stand-out acting from the lovable characters from BBC's The Office, features the most outlandish weddings ever, including a naturalist wedding where the entire wedding party is stark-naked. Now there’s a shuddering thought to make you clutch your bridesmaid dress a little more fondly.

His and Hers Wedding Favors

His and Hers Favors

You’ve heard that halter bridesmaids dresses are a hot wedding trend right now. But have you heard of this hot-off-the-press wedding idea: His and Hers wedding favors. Instead of struggling to come up with an adequate unisex wedding favor, doling out the generic candles and Jordan almonds, why not hand out gender-specific favors for a personalized touch everyone will love? Think rose petal boxes for the girls and silver yo-yos for the guys, or coffee for the fellas and tea for the ladies who lunch. This is an adorable idea and the kind of little unique touch that separates the cutting-edge wedding from the matching heart cookie-cutter wedding.

MOH Deserves Special Bridesmaid's Dress

You love all your bridesmaids of course, but chances are there’s something about your Maid of Honor that makes her truly special. She’s proved her friendship countless times along the way, so why not give her a special honor on your big day? One great way to do this is by distinguishing her bridesmaid's dress. We like the idea of having all the bridesmaids' dresses be the same color, but maybe have the Maid of Honor’s be a different fabric. If the rest of the bridesmaids dresses are chiffon, pick a more formal silk for the Maid of Honor’s and so on. A special friend deserves a special touch, and if you don’t like the idea of a different bridesmaid dress' fabrics, maybe a pretty broach or a gorgeous wrap is the key. Any way you choose, make sure you give your Maid of Honor the props she deserves for being awesome!

Bridesmaid Dress Code

In lieu of mandating bridesmaid dresses, some gracious brides are allowing bridesmaids to pick out their own. Right on, brides! One little thing we recommend though. Even if you are open-minded enough to let your girls pick out their own bridesmaid dresses, do yourself a favor by instituting a bridesmaid dress code: the color you prefer, any styles you can’t stand, how much cleavage is too much…the basics! This way, you won’t get any nasty surprises when your bridesmaids walk down the aisle in neon mesh.
