Bottoms up, Bridesmaids!
Being a bridesmaid just got a little better, now that personalized wedding cocktail favors have been deemed the wedding favor de rigeur. After all, a bridesmaid is entitled to a wedding favor too, isn’t she? So what if you already got a bridesmaid gift? That cheesy bracelet can hardly compare to the joy of boozing it up in the dressing room just moments before the wedding takes place. With wedding favors like this, being a bridesmaid will become a blessed blur. Lest bridezilla attack you for being tipsy at her wedding, we suggest spiking her Evian bottle, and, for extra kicks, the minister's. Cheers!

The Bridesmaid Bandit
If you think your bridesmaid experiences have been bad, consider this: According to the South Mississippi Sun Herald, bridesmaids in Poca, West Virginia were robbed during the ceremonies in two separate weddings this past Saturday! The ill-fated bridesmaids returned from their aisle-adorning duties to find their cash and credit cards missing from their respective dressing rooms. As if the bouquet toss tussle wasn’t brutal enough! According to State Police Trooper S.E. Wolfe, on both occasions, a person came into the church just as the ceremony was about to begin and asked where the bridesmaids were dressing. Sheesh, being a bridesmaid sure isn’t the cushy job it used to be. With this bridesmaid bandit running around, it’s only wise to take a cue from the Old West bad girls and keep your cash securely stashed under lock and key.
Take that, bandit!

In the old days, bridesmaids dressed in similar dresses to the bride to confuse evil suitors. Once considered rather primitive, this approach to bridesmaid fashion may make a comeback, as bridal safety is continuously threatened by jilted lovers. In the latest case, a Bahraini man allegedly brandished a knife at his would-be bride, a Filipina girl he said promised to marry him and then ran away once they reached Bahrain. The terrified Filipina girl said the man was trying to kill her. Did we mention this all took place in the friendly neighborhood Pizza Hut? Bridesmaids, your brides need you more than ever! From now on, when visiting your local fast food chains, we suggest you keep your cell phone handy.

If you’re feeling down about being a bridesmaid instead of a bride, consider this new piece of information: the National Marriage Project at Rutger’s University revealed that later marriage rates are strongly associated with higher levels of education. Next time you steel your teeth as you slide into your oversized bridesmaid gown for yet another fitting, remind yourself that it is your highly enlightened intellectual state that resigns you to being a bridesmaid and not a bride. If all this talk of “twice a bridesmaid, never a bride” has you blue, take heart bridesmaids! Here is a roster of celebrity bridesmaids who have proved time and again that they are still marriage material. One most notable celebrity bridesmaid is the seven-times married Elizabeth Taylor, who was a bridesmaid in Liza Minelli’s wedding in 2002. Featured in the same wedding were bridesmaids Mia Farrow (former wife of Frank Sinatra) and legendary singer, twice-married Chakha Khan. If these female powerhouses can do bridesmaid’s duty, us simple folk certainly can too. Word has it Drew Barrymore is also vying for the role of bridesmaid should best pal Cameron Diaz get hitched to Justin Timberlake. Paris Breaks off Engagement to Paris
Word has it hotel heiress Paris Hilton called off her engagement to shipping heir Paris Latsis, because she is “too young to settle down.” We suspect the breakup may have had more to do with Latsis’ refusal to remove his tattoos, which Hilton had earlier stated was a stipulation to her affection. Hey Latsis, if you’re looking to smooth things over with the sought-after socialite, we suggest getting a tattoo cover kit. And while you’re at it, get a job. And I'll send back my bridesmaid dress.
