This gorgeous Dessy bridesmaid dress winter wedding took place this past January at the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort in North Conway, New Hampshire. It is a stunning winter wedding. Kate and Ryan were wonderful enough to share their stunning wedding day with us along with some great advice for all of you currently planning your weddings. Read on for some advice straight from the bride herself:
What: Because it was a winter wedding and all of our guests had to travel (far and wide!) we planned a weekend-long event.
Each party staying at the resort received a welcome bag upon their arrival. It included hot chocolate, marshmallows, tea, a honey stick, chocolate covered coffee beans, drink tickets, and an itinerary and introduction to the Mt. Washington Valley area.
My parents hosted a welcome event in the hotel bar on Friday eve. It was supposed to be a tame, one drink ticket/guest event but my dad was so excited he exclaimed it was an open bar the moment the first cousin showed up
Who: Bride grew up in New Hampshire, Groom hails from New Brunswick, Canada. We met in Halifax, Nova Scotia while we were both attending University. We live in Toronto, Canada currently.
BM dresses: I wanted a gown that was elegant and classic that flattered all of my bridesmaids. I didn’t want their look to be overly conservative but I didn’t want too much skin showing as it was a winter wedding, and we had also implied a “black-tie invited” dress code early-on to our guests. I was also seeking a gown that came in a Pantone turquoise (or a Tiffany blue) shade.
My best friend Ashley decided on the dress (they were going to be the ones wearing it after all!)- but the shoppe only had a sample in the shorter style. I took a chance and told my girls to order #2853 without any of them being able to see it on. After alterations, steam cleaning, more alterations, careful transportation, and accessorizing, they all looked impeccably elegant on our big day.

My sister Beth is the dance maestro at any party she attends. At our wedding, she led a floor full of eager guests through the Macarena without skipping a beat.
Advice for couples planning their wedding: I wish I had enlisted professional help. As much as I am a meticulous planner and was a slave to every single detail of our wedding weekend, a hired, day-of coordinator would have ensured that everything went off without a hitch. In fact, it did, but I was not confident that it would go that way at the 11th hour. Had we allowed for it in our budget, and if I had to do it all over again, I would have hired a full-service planner to work with me every step of the way. So, on your wedding day, even if by nature you’re a DIY goddess, the last thing you want to be concerned about it is how the draping is hung, how the tables are set, that the seating chart is laid out correctly, etc. The only thing that matters is the man waiting for you at the end of that aisle. And that’s how it should be!

Oh, winter, how I love your cozy, comfy feel and rich, deep color tones of browns, greens and blues. This winter wedding shoot photographed by Rachel Peters Photography is a colder weather wedding at its best. A cozy shrug, lots of shimmering white snow, yummy hot chocolate and frosty cakes. I especially love the exit of a horse drawn carriage off into the wintery day. Romance at its best!

It may be the middle of winter, but as all of you summer brides know, it’s time to start dreaming of your summer weddings. A beach wedding is one of the more popular choices for a sunny weather Big Day, and for good reason. Who doesn’t love the sand between your toes and the sound of the ocean waves? Oh-so-romantic! Here is a charming wedding to inspire your own. Here are some special details from the bride herself:
“As I was walking down the long aisle to the beach, I walked past a father and his young daughter who couldn’t have been more than three years old. The look on the little girl’s face, together with her father saying “Look sweetie, there’s the princess”, sent me into tears again. As my wedding party walked down the beach, I was left by myself for a few moments which gave me time to calm down and prepare myself for the biggest most important moment of my life. As Falling Slowly started to play, I started my walk towards my husband-to-be. I walked myself down the aisle, but Tim met me halfway up so we could finish the walk together. Our ceremony was short, all of about nine minutes, but it was very personal. Our Justice of the Peace was Tim’s aunt, and we created our ceremony together to center around the two of us and how important it was for us to be on the beach. One of the lines from her address that were my favorite was, “Love is what makes two people sit in the middle of a beach when there is plenty of room at both ends to write their names in the sand.”
This gorgeous winter wedding has a just as gorgeous story to go with it. The wonderful lesson learned here is – no matter what happens on your wedding day, you cannot control everything and you should make the best of it!
Peri and Ryan had been planning their perfect wedding for ages, only to be greeted by the sudden fall of snow, which resulted in only one-third of their guests making it to their wedding. They couldn’t get to their reception venue – decorated by Peri and the girls that morning – as the roads were closed due to the snow. Luckily a kind local pub owner opened up their function room and provided finger food for the newlyweds and their guests. Not being able to get to the hotel they’ve booked for their wedding night, their friends put together some money and booked them into the local hotel. Despite all, Peri and Ryan were the toughest of cookies throughout the day, they were so happy to be married to each other it was really sweet to watch.
